Nokia Life Tools

TED's website reports about the emerging mobile technology - Nokia Life Tools (NLT). It is a range of innovative agriculture information and education services designed especially for rural and small town communities in emerging markets. Accurate and regular information on weather, prices and availability of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and prevailing market prices for the produce are sent to directly to farmers; while the Education service of Nokia Life Tools aims to give students a decisive advantage by boosting their English language and local, national and international general knowledge -- delivered to the palm of their hand.

Mongi, this is an interesting innovation, but regular update on local price information is very crucial. I mean regular compilation of info by relevant agencies. If TCCIA can take a lead role I believe farmers with the assistance of improved infrustructure stand a bigger chance to gain alot.

It is true Bilaro. The trend of mobile phone revolutions in Africa and Tanzania in particular shows the technology like this would help accelerate our speed towards modernization and commercialization of agriculture.
