A NEW RESOURCE ON BIOTECHNOLOGY

Dr C. Kameswara Rao has informed me about another biotechnology resource (FBAE Blog) accessed at http://www.fbaeblog.org. FBAE blog is mastered by Dr Rao and highlights applications of agricultural biotechnology in India. This is the second blog on biotechnology to be added on this site after GMO Africa. Despite varying opinions on biotech and GMOs, I concur with those who take the two as items in the basket of options for solutions to crises that mankind is facing today and will do so in future. A few months ago the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) had to pop in to clarify the remarks by its chairman, the former Secretary General of the United Nations Dr Kofi Annan. In a widely criticized statement, Annan was quoted as suggesting that his organization would disregard modern crop biotechnology in its campaign against hunger and malnutrition in Africa. In a press release, the organization makes a U-turn from Annan’s comments.
